Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden is Yuu Watase's latest work for the FY Universe. It tells the story of Takiko Okuda, the first priestess to appear in the Universe of the Four Gods.

Seventeen-year-old Takiko lives in Morioka, Japan with her dying mother. While tuberculosis mark's her mother's life in borrowed days, Takiko's father is away in China. He is researching a mysterious book and Takiko resents his absense. When he returns, Takiko seizes the book. A silver light envelopes her and she is drawn into the Universe of the Four Gods. She lands in the northern province of Hokkan, where the ruling deity, Genbu, is hated and reviled.

Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden is a dark prequel to Fushigi Yuugi. There is little light or warmth for the girl who begins the legend.

11.13.10: Wow. What a year. I haven't touched this website in fourteen months. I haven't even read chapter 32 or 33 of Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden. Life has taken me elsewhere. It's been very cool lately. By cool, I mean insane. I started a new job as a third grade classroom teacher, so I have little time for anime and the internet. I would like to get back into the series and GK.com though. I took a baby step and posted a Hit Banner page and a few new icons.
